V for Vendetta On August 1, V for Vendetta comes to DVD. With a screen play written by The Wachowski Brothers (directors of the Matrix Trilogy) base on an Alan Moore comic book, James McTeigue does an excellent job with his directorial debut. The movie is about a freedom fighter known only as “V” (played by Hugo Weaving). We follow his complex plan, using terrorist tactics to try and bring down a totalitarian government. The story is told from the point of view of a girl he rescued (played by Natalie Portman).

Bored and Evil I recently finished reading through the Bored and Evil archives. It is a comic about Joe, a nerd that sells his soul for lower rent. As a result of the transaction, he must live with a group of monsters. His roommates include a hockey mask wearing murder, named Jack, a fish monster, named Goonie, a werewolf named Goad, and a tentacle monster named Edelbrock. It's very funny to watch the realistic (yet exaggerated) interactions between the non realist characters. I really like the detail that is put into the backgrounds. Even though the backgrounds are reused, I catch something new on almost every comic.

July 19, 2006 Dang it's hot! Our house doesn't have air conditioning either, so the thermometer says it's 90 degrees. Oh what I wouldn't give for an air conditioner!
